Trek Speed Concept- First Look

I’ve recently had opportunity to review this bike courtesy of Ashley Ritchie at Sonic Cycles Springwood QLD

Speed Concept 9.9

This bike is as well thought out for a triathlete as any bike I’ve seen in the last 5 years. The simple but effective things which make so much sense are:

-Built in nutrition box that does not flop around

-Built in rear spares box- lets face it no bike looks cool with a bag or tyres taped up under the saddle-its a hassle. This is one click and it molds into the frame

-Built in speed/cadence sensor

-Integrated stem/bar combo- but with a massive range of adjustability

-Sensible head tube lengths- not rediculously low suitable  for short time trial only positions

-Good clean integration of brakes

-Good clean integration of all cables

-Reasonable length chain stays

-Good range of seat angles from moderate to steep

-If you believe that sort of thing a white paper that shows its one of the most aerodynamic bikes going round (member your own body and position is WAY more important)

This is all the basic stuff that makes setting up a triathlon bike a hassle

Like all the top end bikes from Trek it is stiff, comes with a lifetime warranty and dealer support is excellent

I havent had a reason to look past my faithfull QROO Lucero for several years…………..this might have been what I was waiting for.
